February 16, 2017 (San Francisco, Ca) -- Planisware, the leading global provider of Project and Product Portfolio Management (PPM) software solutions for new product development (NPD) organizations, today reported a total revenue of $60 million for the fiscal year 2016, for a 17% year-over-year increase in revenue. The milestone marks the fourth straight year of double-digit growth for Planisware.
The organization’s growth can be attributed in large part to a significant rise in the number of SaaS customers worldwide, with a 164% increase in SaaS annual revenues in North America alone. The majority of new customers in the United States, primarily comprised of mid-sized organizations, selected the SaaS offering, opting for a full-service PPM solution. Additionally, many of Planisware’s existing U.S. customers chose to migrate from the on-premise solution to SaaS contracts for improved service and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO), contributing to the offering’s increasing popularity.
An established PPM leader in NPD serving more than one-third of the top 100 R&D spenders worldwide, Planisware gained new customers across several vertical industries in 2016, with a noteworthy boost among the consumer packaged goods and manufacturing sectors. New implementations in 2016 included Beam Suntory, ABB Group, Philips, AdvancePierre Foods, Schneider Electric, MSA Safety, Ford, Zebra Technologies, United Launch Alliance, Incyte, Daiichi Sankyo and Jazz Pharmaceuticals. Planisware’s achievements in providing industry-differentiated solutions were noted by top analyst firms – including Gartner – who continued to recognize Planisware among the leading PPM providers globally.
“There is an increasing demand among NPD companies of all sizes for greater visibility, agility, operational efficiency and process standardization across product lifecycle management,” said Pierre Demonsant, Planisware’s co-founder and CEO. “Planisware’s best practice solution and full-service SaaS option is uniquely suited for mid-sized organizations seeking a PPM solution to provide enhanced structure and governance for their processes. Consequently, our market share has expanded and Planisware remains the PPM solution of choice for not only the world’s top NPD companies, but also for maturing contenders.
Planisware continued commitment to customer service and best practice education in August with the launch of the Planisware Center for Excellence, the first PPM vendor-sponsored program dedicated solely to connecting NPD and R&D practitioners with each other and industry thought leaders in formal, classroom settings. For its inaugural event, the Center for Excellence hosted a masterclass led by innovation and new product development pioneer, Dr. Robert G. Cooper, who presented his Agile-Stage-Gate methodology for the first time in North America. Planisware also held a PPM best practices tour in 2016 – including events in Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Montreal and Cincinnati – and the organization’s annual user summit in May assembled more than 200 NPD professionals and thought leaders from around the world.
In terms of product evolution, Planisware incorporated several new advancements in Planisware’s flagship enterprise PPM software, Planisware V6. The product has evolved over the past year to include additional Agile project management features, advanced financial modeling capabilities and tools further enabling team collaboration
