Dr. Kenneth B. Kahn, Interim Dean and Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, presented "Options thinking for your NPD process" at the Minneapolis Regional Innovation Round Table on September 14, 2017.
Research clearly highlights a need for process flexibility and adaptability, with some studies challenging the appropriateness of a Stage-Gate® process for all new product development (NPD) situations. A recent research study even suggests that different regions of the world might be employing Stage-Gate® in different ways and that a formal process may not necessarily correspond to success. So, what process is best for you: Agile, Stage-Gate® or something else? This presentation aims for a dialogue that on this question, as it presents options for the NPD process.
