Scaled Agile, Inc. is the entity that created and develops the Scaled Agile Framework, aka SAFeĀ® , one of the most popular frameworks for scaling Agile and Lean to the enterprise.
SAFe helps large companies become more agile by providing a tried-and-trested system that guides the roles, responsibilities and activities necessary to deploy the methodology on a large scale. To do that, SAFe synchronizes alignment, collaboration and delivery for multiple Agile teams.
It is particularly well known for introducing two new constructs:
- The Agile Release Train or ART, a long-lived self-organizing team of Agile teams that plans, commits, develops and deploys together. ARTs are cross-functional and have all the capabilities (software, hardware etc.) needed to perform all facets of the work.
- Program Increment or PI, the equivalent of an Agile team increment at ART level. As such, a PI is a fixed timebox (usually 8 to 12 weeks) where the ART builds and validates a full system increment.
We already have several customers accross various industries who use Planisware to support their scaled Agile processes, often alongside other methods including Scrum, Stage-Gate, or hybrid methodologies, and report on them all together in the portfolio.
Planisware Enterprise supports Enterprise Agile from Portfolio all the way down to the Team member levels. This includes organizing activities into streams and ARTs, prioritizing features using the Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF) method, and following the progress with the Portfolio Kanban. At the Project and Team levels, Planisware Enterprise supports the artefacts of Agile methodologies including features, stories, sprints and kanbans. It also tracks dependences and provides a consolidated vision of the backlog and progress.
