Bio
Sam Wilson is the Planisware System Lead at Martin-Baker Aircraft (MBA), the world’s leading manufacturer of Ejection seats. Sam has helped drive the evolution of PPM at MBA since 2015, harnessing Planisware best practices, functionality and ‘out of the box’ configuration.
PMS-V1 (Project Management System) drives the end-to-end Project Life Cycle of 200+ Aircraft Programmes using Planisware’s Stage and Gate tool as a Governance and Baselining mechanism. MBA also capture the ‘Plan and Actual’ of all Sustainment, Departmental and Overhead activities to encapsulate a full Resource & Capacity picture.
MBA use a variety of Planisware Modules to support a Waterfall methodology with an element of rolling wave planning at the phase level. This strategy enables agility whilst retaining the quality of detailed estimating produced in the Proposal Phase.
Currently Sam is working on a major upgrade which sees PMS (V2) shift to the Planisware Enterprise SaaS offering. This naturally provides an opportunity for a UX (User Experience) upgrade, taking the lessons of V1 to optimise and slicken up the UX. The SAP Interface has been re-worked to use Planisware’s ‘Impex’ technology. Process wise there are design improvements around Baselining and Contingency Planning as-well as further utilising Planisware Explorer (Planisware’s in built Reporting Suite) to enable full project cost reporting.
